A big thank you to all of you who came to our Take Me Out to the Ballgame Family Night last Thursday!  We had over 350 people representing over 100 TJ families in attendance, by far our best family night in years!  Thank you for helping us get closer to our school improvement goal of having 50% of our families attend one of our family nights this year!     FIELD TRIPS APPROACH ‘Tis the season for field trips.  We have the following field trips scheduled for the remainder of this year: May 14:  Kindergarten (Peterman) Family Museum/Park May 30:   Kindergarten (Earnest/Ethington): Niabi Zoo and Camden Park May 2:  1st Grade Circa 21, SW Library and Camden Park May 23:  2nd Grade Wildlife Prairie Park May 21:  3rd Grade IMAX/Fejervary Park May 20:  4th Grade Maquoketa Caves May 28:  5th/6th Grade Dubuque River Museum May 23:  6th Grade Party at Loud Thunder  LUNCHROOM HELP NEEDED! We are in need of an additional staff member for lunchroom/playground duty here at TJ.  The position would be every day from 11:00 to 12:30.  Please call our building supervisor, Ms. Lynn Turnbull, for details.   Thomas Jefferson dismisses every Wednesday at 1:55! RIVER BANDITS GAME RESCHEDULED Due to flooding near Modern Woodmen Park, the River Bandits game for the students who earned their reading incentive has been moved to Sunday, May 11 at 1:00.  The parade of students on the field will start at 12:30.  If you have any other questions, call 563-3-BANDIT. APPROPRIATE DRESS The weather has been crazy!  Warm one day, snow the next. Please check the weather forecast each day before sending your kids to school to make sure they have the proper attire for the temperature.  Recess can be very long when you≠re cold!   SPRING MUSIC CONCERT COMING UP! Please join us on Friday, May 9 at 1:30 p.m. in the gym for our spring concert.  Our theme is ≥South of the Border≈.  The kids are already hard at work preparing for the concert.  Please come see the kids do their thing! CROSSING GUARD NEEDED We are in need of a crossing guard on U.S. 67 to assist our students in crossing the street safely before school and after school.   If you are interested, please contact Chief Mark Beckwith at the Milan Police Department 787-8520.
