Graduation Rate

The national dropout rate featured in stories as of late has painted a different picture of the Rock Island-Milan School District, casting a shadow over the success of the district and it's continually improving graduation rate.

Student achievement is a high priority for the Rock Island-Milan School District, and in our diverse-rich district where over 60% of our families are low income, the 2007 graduation rate of 88% has surpassed the State of Illinois graduation rate of 85%.

"Our data gets reported directly to the State of Illinois, and their formula for our graduation rate takes into account students that transfer in and out of the district," says Superintendent Rick Loy. "Since 2003 we have seen an improvement, and we won't be satisfied until we reach 100%."

The charts below show Rock Island High School's graduate rate as defined by the state, moving in the right direction, making significant leaps in the past 2 years.
