DEADLINES BASED ON LAST YEAR - SUBJECT TO CHANGE!!
Charles Esplin Scholarships Must rank in top 25% of the class at the end of the seventh semester, file a FAFSA and Profile financial form with appropriate code numbers by March 1 and complete a personal data sheet. Awards vary and are renewable upon written request.
Guthrie Family - Rocky Spirit Scholarship Two $500 scholarships awarded annually to one male and one female senior who have served as a student assistant such as team manager, teacher assistant, etc. 2.75-3.25 GPA. Dealine April 1st.
Harvey M. Bender Memorial Scholarship Must be a member of a varsity athletic team, have a 3.0 GPA, demonstrate outstanding character and citizenship. Award $500 to one male and one female student. Deadline March 31st.
Hass Family Scholarships Offered to Rocky students only. Open to seniors with a 3.0 GPA leadership skills and good character. Approximately $3,500 non-renewable award. Can not be in the top 10. Deadline April 30th.
Herman and Sarah Segal Scholarships $500 award. Must have taken the ACT, have a 3.0 GPA and financial need. Hand the application in to Mr. Kingery. Deadline January 10th.
Joyce E. Mirr Education Scholarship For graduating seniors who rank in the top 1/3 of the class and plan to major in education. Award $1,000. Deadline April 18th.
Judith A. Katz Fine Arts Scholarship Rock Island High School seniors are eligible. Criteria: financial need, active in school and community, citizenship, good standing academically, and has been in music, drama, or art for two years. Deadline April 30th.
Kenneth Greene Wrestling Scholarship Senior wrestlers eligible. Based on integrity, leadership, sportsmanship, character, desire, dedication, and need. Deadline April 18th.
Kings Daughters and Sons Rank in top one-half of class, show financial need, and be accepted by a college. Award $350 to be used for books. Deadline April 18th.
Milan Lions Club Must reside in Milan or southwest Rock Island, be accepted at a school for next year and show financial need. Award $1,000. Deadline May 15th.
ML King, Jr. Community Center Based on current and past contributions to the community, types of contributions, & current or past resident of Rock Island; Deadline in December.
Nellie D. Anthony Memorial Scholarship This scholarship, for a Rocky student only, is based on demonstrated financial need, citizenship, good academic standing, and school and community activities. The scholarship can only be used at a college or university in Iowa or Illinois. Essay required. The award is approximately $1,000. Deadline April 30th.
R. Decker Magee Memorial Scholarship Must plan to attend college or vocational school. Based on participation in activities, character, and conduct. Must have a C+ average. Award $500. Deadline April 18th.
Rock Island Evening Lions Club Must have a 2.0 GPA and plan to attend college, business or technical school. Deadline April 15th.
Rock Island High School Class of 1956 Foundation RIHS graduating senior. 2.0 GPA or higher. Essay required. $500 award. Deadline May 1st.
Rock Island Noon Kiwanis Club $500 scholarships to Quad City area graduates. Preference to Rocky or Alleman. 2.5 GPA; preference to Kiwanis Key Club members; Deadline May 1st.
Rock Island Optometric Scholarship Must major in fields such as optometry, medicine, nursing, dentistry. Award $100. Deadline April 18th.
Stanley H. Coin Business Scholarship RIHS seniors in top 25% of the class. Must have participated in the business curriculum at Rocky for at least two years. Financial need and school and community involvement are considered. Deadline April 30th.
Theresa Meincke Memorial Scholarship Must be a Rocky student who plans to major in English or journalism, demonstrate talent for creative writing and rank in top 1/3 of class. Must submit four writing samples. Award $1000. Deadline April 18th.
Thode Family Scholarship Two scholarships will be given - one to a female and one to a male who plan to major in one of the fine arts areas of music, speech or art. Candidates must have a 3.0 GPA in the fine art classes and a 2.5 to 3.5 overall GPA. Deadline April 18th.
Trinity / IL QC Chamber Health Care Professional Scholarship Open to Rock Island County seniors. Plan to study in health care related field. $750 award up to four years. 3.25 minimum GPA. Deadline May 23rd.
University of Iowa - Lappin Family Scholarship Must attend University of Iowa and be a member of National Honor Society. Financial need is a minor consideration. Award $750, renewable for four years. Deadline April 18th.
