A Welcome From Dr. Anderson
Dear Friends of
Rocky: Welcome to our 2007-08 website, you will
find a number of items and information about Rock IslandHigh School. It is again a privilege for the entire staff
to accept the responsibilities of educating students. We also benefit from a tradition of great
community support and pride that has prevailed since the charter of schools in Illinois. Rock
Island School District
is a district member of the first charter of schools in the state. Moreover, the high school's academic
curriculum continues to evolve. Using
the High Schools That Works model as a template for improvement, the
implementations of more rigor and higher expectations has lead to continuous
and consecutive years of higher, overall scores on the Illinois' State testing instruments. This is also the second year of
implementation for the 9th grade (Freshmen) Academy. All of the data relating to students≠
performances and promotions were positive indicators that this program benefits
students. We expect it to improve with this
year's experience behind us and grow into the high academic program for which
it is designed. It is again exciting to head up another
school year, full of promises that have so much at stake for us all. Again, your support is much appreciated and your
input and suggestions are well taken. The R.O.C.K.S. message to students is Respect, On time, Cooperation,
Keep focused and Safety; we will always be
