SCHOOL IMPROVEMENT TEAM MEETING

Reading of the November Minutes ˆ Carol DePron

Power Point Presentation of the RIHS Goals and Action Plan (Draft) (handout) ˆ Dr. Nate       Anderson, Georgia Kouris, and Focus Team Leaders
This power point was presented to the Rock Island School Board on February 13th, 2007.  Dr. Anderson reviewed the five major goals and the actions our school and district must take to reach the designated goals.   

Discussion of the Action Plan and Stage II, Implementation
Staff will begin working on all Actions that must be completed by August, 2007.  There are three Delayed Starts remaining in the school year, and staff will be researching, writing, and visiting sites to learn more about the operations of successful schools.

This article focuses on the day-to-day dialogue teachers and administrators should have with students concerning their future plans.

This article discusses the critical need to raise the rigor of high school in order to assure successful transition from high school to post-secondary education.  Geneseo High School, featured in this article, is raising its academic standards through the increase of AP classes, dual enrollment courses, high academic expectations, certificate training programs, and several more purposeful actions. 

School Improvement Plan 2007-09 (handout to team) - Georgia Kouris
Our guest, Mrs. Sheila Burns, Education Consultant, from our Regional Office of Education, presented information concerning the filing of our School Improvement Plan with the State of Illinois.  Our School Improvement Team will probably begin the process of writing the next SIP in the fall of 2007.  

Next SIT Meeting Date will be April 26th, 2007 - Georgia Kouris
We will meet to prepare for a May forum to discuss and present the RIHS Action Plan to the community.
