Issues:    1.    We were asked to divide our group into Jr. High/High School and High School/College.  Focus team four already has a group working on High School/College transition.

1.    What worked to make the transition between Jr. High and high school easier?
Edison ˆ Same number of classes helped.
2.    What would have helped make the transition better?
Building tour in spring of eighth grade year.  Individual tour w/other student to find classes.  
Needed better explanation of cafeteria setup and using ID cards.  Get more information about clubs and athletic opportunities.

1.)    Spanish Dual Credit ˆ  
a.)Mike Hawley is qualified to teach this class and has the   
          paperwork.  (We will check on the status of his paperwork.)
b.)Students will need to start with first year Spanish, but can start at any grade level (9, 10, 11,12)
2.)    Volunteers for „Schools at Work‰ ˆ
   a.)Doug called five parents and did not get any response.  
   b.)Elizabeth Chapman will email two parents and get back to us with
       a response.  
   c.)Diane Krumdiek will also ask a parent to join us.
   d.)Doug Roberts will write-up a phone message to be put on the auto-
       phone message.
3.)    The „Course Description‰ night
a.)The event is planned for January 24th at 6:00 p.m.  There is a note in the Newsletter and Farah may have Jeanette send an auto-phone message.
b.)Cyber Space Bowling & Teen Dating Violence will be classes offered to parents in the Spring.

            a.) Jeanette would like Œspecifics‚ of the plan before they set up times,

Where we are now?
    Our group has met and exceeded the original goals.  We have taken on „Parent Involvement‰ as another project.

Where will we be next semester?
    There will have a parent and a student in our group.
    There will have three (3) Dual Credit Classes:  Music, Speech and Warehousing
    There may also be a welding class as a Dual Credit Class.
    The Counselors will have a „Course Description‰ night for parents and students.
    The Counselors will also have two Parent Education nights.

Where will we be next year?
    Welding will be a Dual Credit class for sure.
    There will also be 2 ˆ 3 other Dual Credit Classes.
    „I Ate w/ Nate‰ will be up and running throughout the year.

3.    Was there any repetition in curriculum between Jr. High and High School?

Two = No  One=Yes

4.    Did you feel you were prepared for high school academically and socially?
Academically = NO Not a strong math class in Jr. High
Struggling in Jr. High w/English still struggling in High School
Socially = Participating in extra curricula activity helped

5.    Did you feel you were prepared for Explore/Plan tests?
Some courses.  

6.    What programs or extra help did you take advantage of to better yourself academically and socially?
Lights on for learning, got help from teachers and academic advantage class

7.    In your opinion, were your teachers‚ expectations fair?
Yes.  

Describe orientation day ˆ went in gym and divided into houses.  Team building activity.  Look at classroom and go through schedule and talk to ladies in cafeteria.
