Action Team: #1: Credit Recovery: Rigor & Relevance
Date: December 13, 2007
Meeting Location: Room # 124     Start time: 2:10 P.M.         End time: 3:30
Leader: Patricia Matson        Recorder: Tia Rice
Members Present: Nadia Bouchareb, Bill Churchill, Rita Currier, Patricia Matson, Tia Rice,
Mike Smith,  Sue Vize,  Nancy Wolber
Topic of discussion:  Trish created a brochure/pamphlet for Credit Recovery.
Retaking courses?  HSTW does not have anything against this idea.  Double-dosing may be the option for retake courses.

GK: Mentioned content area skills lab to include work during the day and the classroom to thelp the students.  Mandatory extra help.  Minimal credit can be provided.

HSTW Consultant: Should students be able to retake any course?  Full-year courses are the issue.
Mike proposes that students failing at the semester, should be removed from the class.  Administrative help is needed to quell the size of the classes.  There is a push to look at grading systems.  The power of „I‰ ˆ incompletes.  Grade scale: A, B, C or Not yet.

GK: Encouraged central office to come to meetings.

RC:  Students believe they can come in over Intercession/Summer School to work.

TM: Students should earn credit in class; credit recovery should include students with undue hardship.

BC: Success breeds success.

SV: We‚re watering down the content.  Grading scale?  Can it go higher?
