Horace Mann Choice School Parent Involvement Contract* (2007 √ 2008)
The teaching you do by example and by direct involvement is extremely important. Research shows the top indicator of student success in school is parent involvement in their child's education. Your commitment to parental involvement will make the difference in your child's academic success.
Listed below are requirements that families must fulfill for continued student enrollment at Horace Mann Choice School
Contract Requirements: 1) Involvement will include a minimum of two commitments, per family, to Horace Mann each quarter. Refer to menu of opportunities for Parent Involvement. 2) Homework Commitment: Parents will work with their child(ren) on a weekly basis. Specific assignments will be explained on the Homework Contract sent home by your child's teacher each Monday. (Modifications may occur at the Intermediate level to prepare students for Jr. High expectations.) 3) Parents must attend scheduled Parent-Teacher Conferences. 4) Parents and students are responsible for student attendance every day. Should a child be absent or tardy the parent must notify the school immediately. No more then 5 unexcused absences or 10 tardies are allowed per school year - any more results in truancy and possible dismissal from Horace Mann. 5) Student Behavior Policy: Students are expected to behave at school. If you receive three office referrals, you will be referred to our building Intervention Team. If you are still unwilling to follow school expectations, you will return to your home school. 6) Pet Policy: No animals are allowed on school grounds or in the school building. (Exclusion to this policy is classroom pets.) 5) Parents and staff will make every effort to work together for the benefit of our children and school.
Consequences for not fulfilling the requirements: a) You will be notified (after each nine week period) if you have not fulfilled your commitment according to this contract. b) Mentor will contact parents for assistance. c) If you fail to meet the standards of this contract during any subsequent nine week period, you may forfeit your child≠s opportunity to attend Horace Mann Choice School. d) Appeals: To appeal this decision, a meeting with the REACH≠M Executive
