Committees
Why ParentInvolvement? Studies have shown that children who have a
parent(s) actively in school generally do better socially and
academically.
GENERAL
INFORMATION
Each committee
chairperson should know of all activities being accomplished by members
of the committee. The
chairperson is responsible for helping to steer the committee toward
its goals/intended purpose. However, since each committee is made up of parents, all
activities/actions should be approved by a majority of the
committee. Each chairperson
is to compile a list to the appropriate parent Coordinator. This list is to be updated as
needed.
Every committee is expected to
coordinate all fiscal needs with the Executive Board. Committees should not obligate
funds nor make cash purchases prior to coordination with the Executive
Board. Any committee, as
needed, may ask for, from anyone or material donations. If any kind/type of activity is being planned, the Executive Board
liaison needs to know as soon as possible before any action is to be taken by the committee. This
coordination is to prevent more than one of the same kinds of activity
taking place at the same time.
EXECUTIVE
BOARD
The purpose of the Executive Board is to
coordinate all REACH-M activities with the school, other committees,
and provide parents with a coordinated means of sharing information and
responsibilities. Its primary goal is to make sure
every parent will be given every opportunity to become actively
involved. The Executive
Board coordinates efforts between any and all other committees.
Each committee will have a liaison
(contact) on the Board. As
such the Board must be kept informed, through the liaison, of what is
taking place with each committee. This is to help ensure that
everyone‚s plans go
smoothly. (To try and
prevent us from „stepping on each others toes‰). In addition, the
Executive Board is responsible for determining the fate of families who
repeatedly fail to live up to the Parent Involvement Contract.
LIBRARY
The purpose of this committee is to help make the Horace Mann Library a
wonderful learning environment for the students by increasing the
library resources and maintaining the materials we have. Members participate in the special

support in the library on a regular basis. The committee also promotes the
Birthday Book Program.
TEACHERS WISH

Board.
